How does the admission procedure work?

To we can understand what drives you, we’d like to receive a motivation letter or video explaining why you want to follow this program. We’ll conduct a talent scan and then have a personal interview to get to know you better. Based on that, we’ll determine whether this program is the right fit for you.

What makes this program different from other baking programs?

In a rapidly changing market, it’s essential that education aligns with the latest technologies and methods. Modern bakeries need well-trained professionals who have mastered traditional skills and are also familiar with advanced technologies, sustainable production methods, and current food safety standards. You’ll learn all of that and more in this program!

Where and when are the in-person classes held?

Either at our Broodatelier or Aventuur in Avenhorn, in Stoutenburg, or another location. We’ll determine the most convenient location based on our students. For excursions, we offer the option to travel together, for example from Avenhorn. In-person classes are always held on Tuesdays.

What language is the program taught in?

The program is taught in English to give non-Dutch-speaking students the opportunity to enroll as well.

How many hours per week will I be studying?

You’ll have an in-person class once every two weeks, for a total of 20 class days. In addition, you’ll be studying independently or on the job for about 4 to 8 hours per week.

Is the degree recognized?

Yes, the program is officially recognized by CPION (Dutch Center for Post-Initial Education).

You are welcome to work in our bakery, but it’s not required. After you get your diploma, you can apply for a job at any industrial bakery.

How much does the program cost?

The investment for this program is €2,750 for the full academic year, including all necessary materials and your exams. If you work at Amarant Bakkers, you can contact HR for a training agreement. If you work at another bakery, ask your HR department whether they have a training budget to fund your education.

How long has this program existed?

The first group will start in 2025, so if you join, you’ll be a pioneer! But Royal Amarant Bakers, under which Amarant Academy falls, has been around for over 100 years. So there’s plenty of knowledge and experience behind the program.

Can I attend a trial day or get more information?

Since this is the first year we’re offering the program, there are no trial days yet. We will, however, organize an information evening. If you have any questions, feel free to contact program coordinator Laura Baas at laura.baas@amarantacademy.nl.
